Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust tasked us with creating a short video highlighting the natural beauty and encouraging people to visit one of their fifteen nature reserves.
We demonstrated professionalism, doing cinematography on the project, by ensuring that our main contributor, Marta, was relaxed and understood what we needed from her performance on camera. We ensured that all professional practices were adhered to during and between filming, including maintaining a safe work environment by minimising risk and risk-taking behaviours. We demonstrated a critical understanding of creative production processes, utilising camera framing, focus, and other settings to create professional moving images whilst ensuring that the camera was protected from the harsh wind and rain.
We made sure to get enough coverage/GVs of what Marta thought was most important to showcase in the film, allowing for greater flexibility in the edit. We emphasised the importance of refilming the interview to remove the dirt and water droplets creating spots and haze on the lens, respectively, as well as ensuring the correct camera settings, focus, and framing. This was appreciated in the edit, where the image was clear, correctly exposed, and well-framed despite the unfavourable weather conditions.
